Melanie’s Letter of Recommendation:
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this reference at the request of Ms. Pizzo, who has worked at the Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC) for the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota for several years. During her time here, Ms. Pizzo has tutored American Sign Language (ASL) and English, run the front desk, given tours of the center, provided students with technical support, and developed social media content for Facebook and Instagram. I have known and worked with Ms. Pizzo in my capacity as a writing tutor and program evaluator.
From the moment I met Ms. Pizzo, she stood out to me as a particularly impressive professional. She is a colleague who exudes positive energy and makes everyone feel welcome. She is articulate, eager to learn, and a quick learner. As we worked closely together, I learned more and more about Ms. Pizzo’s exceptional linguistic and teaching talents. When tutoring, I observed her establish rapport while supporting students from brainstorming to editing and proofreading a variety of genres, such as formal essays, creative writing, and speeches. What I have found particularly special about her is her knowledgeable yet gentle approach. She easily guides her students towards success while respecting each student’s own ideas and voice. And no matter the stress level of the student, she always remains calm and supportive. Moreover, Ms. Pizzo seeks out every opportunity to continuously improve herself professionally. We read professional literature together and discussed the intricacies of language acquisition in our spare time. Throughout the academic year, Ms. Pizzo even participated in the student-run committee that votes on budgeting and club needs. Consequently, it was no surprise when she was named one of three nominees for Outstanding Graduate across all three campuses.
Ms. Pizzo is a talented communicator, who is knowledgeable, responsible, and a joy to work with. For me, she is certainly one of the best professionals with whom I have ever worked. She would be an asset to any company, especially building relationships in Public Relations. She has my highest recommendation.
